CORONARY CARE UNIT
We are an 8-bedded unit
established since 1969 on the 1st floor of phase II, adjacent to Cardiac High
Dependency Unit, next to Ward 3. This is a warm and friendly place to work
and we put patients first every time. Patients are nursed in individual rooms
and monitored with Space Lab technology. The unit serves the accident and
emergency department, Cardiology and Medical Wards. It is in the Manchester
Heart Centre Directorate. We take patients from many hospitals across the
North West and Wales. We are part of one of the three main tertiary centres
treating cardiac conditions in this part of the country. The annual throughput
of patients is 700-800 per year. There are eight consultant cardiologists,
of whom five undertake interventional work. Dr Raj Khattar
has responsibility for CCU.
